Microphone Cables -- If you could choose free wire.
« on: March 04, 2006, 09:52:43 AM »
If you were to make your own cables and you could get a 50' sample of any of the wire listed on this page.  Which would you choose and why?

http://bwccat.belden.com/ecat/jsp/Index.jsp?&P1=undefined&P2=undefined&P3=undefined&P4=undefined&P5=undefined&P6=undefined

After hitting that link you need to page through the following:
Select Brilliance Broadcast and hit next.
Select Microphone and Musical Instrument Cable and hit next.
Select Four Conductor Star Quad, Low-Impedance Cables and hit next.

Item #1804A is the only one that is silver plated, if that means anything.  I'm not sure about the different size wire guages and why you would choose one guage over another.

If it helps.  The cables would be 20' each in length, one male XLR on one end and one female mini-XLR on the other end.  The cables would run phantom powered mics.  Like the ones in my signature for example. :)

Thanks in advance.

The 1084A is what most people use.  Myself included.

You meant 1804A correct?

1084A comes up as 25 conductor wire
