Title: can RCAs cause static like noise?
Post by: BCostigan on June 05, 2004, 01:21:47 AM
I ran V2->w-mod ua-5 and have some very slight crackling that is constant through quiet and loud portions of the show.  Though.....Galactic and set one of moe. seem ok...just set II is messed up.

I used a *cheap* pair of rca cables that are pretty beat up...think these could be causing the noise??

I'm really hoping this is the problem....I delayed getting a good pair of RCAs and didn't bother to take a pair from my playback system for tonight.

Note to self:

Don't be lazy.  :P

I've gotten crackling noises from my UA-5 from a bad optical mini-plug, too.

On a similar note.... I emailed Doug to see what I needed to do to get a 7-pin cable fixed that would cut out whenever I moved it and he said the 1st thing I should do is check it w/ another patch cable.  Lo and behold it was the patch cable.  I felt kind of stupid after that one.  Happy but stupid. -drew

Would agree, the shield on cheap cables is usually the first to go, and that can cause all the time static...  +T for a cheap fix hopefully!

The 8 footers in the yard sale or another pair?   I need something a bit shorter than 8 feet. ;)
