Is my digi-out F'd? Need advice Plz + Thnxx! =)))

Big problems. and a newbie on top of it so i'm at a loss  =/

Running:
M1 > Sony/Leggedy 7Pin > Monster digi-coax > Aopen AW-850D soundcard > Soundforgre6 or Audacity

I am trying to transfer a tape and I am getting NO signal whatsoever.
I have tried every possible setting on the soudcard software as per spidf settings and nothing works.
Ive tried both soundforge and audicity to no avail.

To see if it was the soundcard or the deck i ran both my left, then right channel from my stereo coax
output and got no signal into the card.

So I thought it was the card.

With the thought of perhaps the deck's output is dead, I just ran the dat>7pin>coax into my stereo
and got no signal there either. I little bit of static/dignoise through the speakers but no music.

Could it be that my stereo is not SPIDF compliant (it is old, onkyo from like 91) ?

Or is the 7pin output on my deck screwed?

Or if it my soundcard??

Thoughts/Ideas?

TYIA!

The m1 doesn't send out a standard spdif signal.  That might be it.  Also, have you checked to make sure the connector between the soundcard and the daughter board is good.  Also might want to try another coax cable.  Maybe a Leegeddy interconnect.  ;)

The soundcard doesn't look to get good reviews from some folks here.  Some could never get it working.
