Title: Best way to convert HD content to DVD compliant mpg?
Post by: bconnolly on November 29, 2005, 10:39:13 PM
I have a Pixies concert I snagged off alt.binaries.hdtv.  It's 1080i and is in native transport streams.  So far, I've been able to successfully convert the *.ts files to a huge (RE: 1080i resolution) mpg with the audio multiplexed into the file.  After that, I'm able to convert the 1080i mpg to a standard resolution DVD-compliant mpg using TMPGenc Xpress.

The problem I've run into is that the audio doesn't come with the video (multiplexed or otherwise).  I tried exporting the audio from the 1080i mpg using Womble MPEG Video Wizard but DVD Lab won't use the audio file for some reason.

Am I doing this right? Is there an easier way to downconvert 1080i content to a DVD-compliant mpg?  I'd really like to seed this as an authored DVD on Dime since I'm pretty sure most people would be up in arms if I uploaded a 15 gb folder full of *.ts files.  Any help is appreciated.

You might be able to get a good answer here, but I think you'd be better off going to videohelp.com or doom9.org - forums that specialize in video.
