Sound Forge 6.0
« on: November 12, 2003, 09:21:36 PM »
Which version of 6.0 would be the best for me to use to just transfer my DAT tapes, resample, and fade ins, etc? I have seen several versions (studio, original) and different prices as well. I have also looked on e-bay. They have several versions available but I am unsure about which one I should use.  I found one on Sound Forge's web site titled 6.0 studio. This looks to be the best option for me, but I am unsure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott :)

I can't be sure, but I would suspect that either of them would do that stuff... so, if this is the case, I would go for the cheapest one...

According to my version, I have:

Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 6.0d (Build 219)

and it does everything you mentioned, and then some!

HTH, but probably wont.... sorry.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

You should check into Samplitude as you can resample on the fly. Saves about 20 minutes per set of your time-  Time is money!

20 minutes?

just resampled a 1hr 55' set from 48K to 44.1K in Soundforge6(with anti-alias filter and interpolation accuracy at highest) and it took 5 mins total
(this was on a PIII 1.13GHz w/ 1GB ram)

the water's clean and innocent

Yeah it takes me about 20 minutes, my machine is a little out dated but performs well enough for my applications. I'll upgrade soon.

Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure how long it takes as I set it up and walk away. Kind on an assumption on my part.

I'll resample a set this afternoon and time it.

Wow, Luvean, you're machine flys.

I've got an 850 Pentium with 512 ram that's about 3.5 years old and it takes me 40 mins. to resample a two set (3 hour) show from 48 to 44.1.

Someday I'll upgrade  :-\
