Title: Questions on Tascam Dr40

I have a couple of questions on our back-up deck, how does the headphone/ line out plug work? Am I going through a headphone amplifier or is it just a line out without the added distortion of a separate amp. but having output gain control? Also is there a way to control both levels simultaineously  while recording  (without jogging back and forth between left and right with buttons)? Also how do the specs. compare with the DR100mk 3? Thats our main stealth deck, a little larger in size but an easier deck to use. Thanks for help in advance. Bob

Figured out the record channels align from menu, still would like to know the route of outgoing signal, whether it runs through a separate amp for headphones or is it a straight line out?
