after all the yakkin' I did about how nice 16bit can sound, and how it is hard to tell the difference w/a good upsampling scheeme...
Recently, I find that I have been listening to A LOT of 24bit recordings. Especialy 24/96 stuff...
and when I pop on the redbook version I find it sooo uninviting. I reserve redbook for the car only now.
:(
i'm sick in the head.
24/96 sounds so(ny) nice!

nah.
i'm a sucka for the apogee sound.
my goal....Track2>flash tracker.
i'm just figuring out the logistics of AC first.
I may also settle for Mme in interum. I cant afford a track2 at all. that is part of the problem.

that new?

na...been around forever. its super sick.
I want something completely refference class as a recorder/preamp/ad combo.
a v3 would do it I suppose, but the track2....thats a serious piece.
and I can get AC power at 1/2 the shows I tape.

Nick's getting closer to reaching nirvana. :P ;D

nick, go for the mytek. you might like it better than a trak2 :)
-

is it that good scott?
i guess I haven't heard it.

I think I may get one of these myself one day...many many folks rave about MYtek both on this board and off, so though i havent heard em, i guess it is a safe bet that they are very good products

I remember asking about DACs in a previous thread and you mentioned the Mytek. I can't recall if you said so but have you heard the Mytek Stereo96 DAC? The literature says delivery in 2Q05 so they might be out now. Seems like a decent unit for $1K.

problem is...no mic preamps.
the track2 has them..and they have a reputation as kicking ass...but $3500 for it.
out of my league, unless I can find a studio unloading one cheap.

short money. ART makes cheap-ass products..but ive found that some of their stuff sounds good. Im curious about this, i must admit. If I could put together a good portable AC solution w/o having to spend more than 2 bills, i might consider it just for fucking around. Probably an easy sale on in the home studio news groups should it not work out.
As for the Mytek. I want an all in one box w/a good analog stage.
I do listen your warren and friends 24bit quite often Scott...but what was in front of the mytek?
