Title: antique soundlab repairs
Post by: keepongoin on October 15, 2006, 02:53:12 PM
the bias meter selector switch on my aq-1001dt appears to be broken...anyone know a good place to get work done on this... i would love not to ship it anywhere, but i just don't know any bay area folks that do repairs like this...

Andrew - i didn't know you had an ASL amp too.

Good luck, I don't know anyone. I'd like to have my amp looked at. I'll let you know if I find someone.

Try the Sound Well in Berkeley.  If they can't do it they'll probably know someone locally that can.

the guy that builds the preamps I use works on em. He was a tech for decca records for 30+ years and used to work on all the neve consoles, and all the old tube stuff...

thanks!  i am going to give them a call to check out the situation.  i hope it doesn't run me too much.  i have been using my "crappy" surround sound digital system for playback recently, and it isn't the same - not as much warmth, even with the new neumann recordings.

Teddy, if nothing works out locally, I will be in touch.

Tim - I picked it up from pfife a little over a year ago... i think the shipping from memphis > San Francisco is when it was damaged, but it took me a couple months of time to get a place and get this set up.
