Noise cancelling headphones for matrix

Anyone have experience with noise cancelling headphones for live on-site matrixes (like with a UA-5)? I'm wondering if you small in-ear models like the eytomic ones can drown out a loud show or if large, over-ear models will work better. thank you.

I have no problem monitoring live mixes with them.

I picked up a pair of the Bose noise canceling headphones (not just for taping, but I use them for that as well...), and they work really well for monitoring at shows at any reasonable decibel level.  They are VERY pricey (~$300), but I get plenty of use out of them (I fly a lot for my job as well), and I love them.
