Title: PreSonus BlueTube DP V2
Post by: harmon712 on October 10, 2014, 05:20:46 AM
I was talking to a taper at Phases of the Moon about what preamp he was using to figure out what I wanted to get.  Does anyone here use a PreSonus BlueTube DP V2 or have anything to say about it?

I also have a Tinybox coming soon.  Hopefully I'll have it before 11/13 for Travelin' McCourys and Jeff Austin.

For that price point, get a used Edirol Digi-Mod UA5...

Is the UA5 a preamp?  I looked into it and printed on the front it says "audio interface"

^^  It is, and a nice sounding one at that.  Quite a few tapers have run them in the field off an external battery and pulled great recordings.  With all the options for pres available, some still use them to this day.  They're no longer in production but do pop up here in the YS with some frequency, and a few can usually be found on eBay. > http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xedirol+ua-5&_nkw=edirol+ua-5&_sacat=0 (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xedirol+ua-5&_nkw=edirol+ua-5&_sacat=0)

Make sure the ua5 you get has the "digimod". Otherwise it won't work as a stand alone preamp and will be a PC based audio interface.

Now I have the PreSonus BlueTube and a Tinybox.  I also look for aEdirol Digi-Mod UA5 every once in a while.

I get most use out of the Tinybox but will be taking the BlueTube to a festival soon.
