Title: akg 391's UA-5 warm mod levels..
Post by: phishn on October 29, 2003, 03:58:53 PM
Hi all,

What recording levels seem to work the best with this combo?  Just got a warm mod UA-5 and am toying around with it.  Should the peak light on the UA-5 ever light up?  And if it does, am i hitting 0 db?

Im not too familiar with the UA-5 but im pretty sure the peak light is 0db and my guess would be hitting the peak light a few times during a show is fine but you dont want it hitting it all the time.  Monitor your levels on your DAT, jb3, md...

peak light is about -3db.  if you get the light barely flickering during the loudest points, you should be in the -3db to 0 range.  If the light glows brightly for more than a half-second you probably need to turn it down a little.
