well, after an hour or so of listening to the VR4's...i can tell you this.
the vr2's are fucking awesome.
I have bass problems in my house. I think my couch is in a "dead zone".
No back wall....open concept house. the living room melts into the kitchen/dining room. Its a ranch style house, so a very long rectangle w/the back part being the living room.
They sound better than the vr2s, much more power, way more air being moved. The ambient tweeter is not anywhere near the volume of the VR2's. Its adjustable, but these 4's cranked are about 1/3rd of the 2's volume.
I'm driving mine as follows:
Musical Fidelity CD-PRE 24 preamp / transport / DAC combo >
Boulder Cable M-80 (cryo'd) IC w/bullet plugs >
McCormack DNA-1 power drive >
MIT term 3 biwires
Problem here, the biwires wont reach each set of posts (one is on the mid/tweet module and the other on the bass module). I have to use a jumper of shit speaker wire to connect them together. I have the biwires running directly into the mid/tweet driver.
I needs me two sets of speaker cables to run these, or I need a biwire pair that has a 30" split between the two pairs of leads.
Once those are in place, and I've had some time to adjust their position until i'm convinced i've found "the spot", I wont go into any more detail about them.
Even w/my 1/2 assed setup , i'm impressed, and happy.
