Ah, A/h? I don't get the units...
« on: June 04, 2004, 12:42:51 PM »
is it Amps * hours or Amps / hours?

Amps per hour hour would make sense, but I fear it is the former.  I can still do the calcs, but it doesn't make as much sense to me logically.

For example, if it's Amps/hour, then it appears to be a rate at which it is discharging, kinda like MPH.

I just can't think 4th dimensionally...

schwilster;

it's ampere X hour, called "amp hour" or "mili-amp hour".  it's not a rate, but rather just a number representing a power source's capacity.

the unit "ampere" is actually a rate if you want to get technical, but we shouldn't get into that.

This is precisely how Schwilly explained it to me that night. No difference.

i got a fantastic analogy:

your bladder's capacity:  ampere*hour (AH)
the piss:  current (ampere) aka "the yellow flow", "mellow yellow", etc. etc.
the pressure difference between the bladder and the outside world:  voltage (V).  squeeze that secret muscle and the pressure increases, etc. etc.
the blockage: impedence. not-friendly to catheters (sp)

larger the bladder, the more capacity it has, therefore, more current it will provide for a longer amount of time.

i got some nice illustrations if you folks want some  :P

Marc,

That's hilarious! +T for the friday afternoon edumacation and giggles.
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."
