Case for 480s/460s + caps
« on: November 03, 2004, 11:26:21 AM »
I recently picked up a used pair of 460s w/ck63 caps, and am looking for different options to carry and store them in. I'd like something fairly small, as there's not much room left in my bag...and I'd like to keep them and my Neumanns both stashed in there.

Any ideas? Pelican model #s?

All ideas are much appreciated. Also, on a somewhat related note, can someone repost the website/contact info for getting the 460 mod?

Yeah, another mod-460 convert!  8) Jim Williams is the man you want to talk to. The web site is www.audioupgrades.com
I suggest calling him as he's not very quick with email. He's super friendly and happy to talk your ear off on the phone though. Great guy. Great service. Great mod. Enjoy.

I use a pelican 1060. I think both bodies and caps would fit.

check out pgs 9 & 10 of the Team AKG thread in the team boards forum for some custom akg holders.

i recently saw some small cases at dicks sporting goods in the fishing bait/tackle section that might suffice

My gear: JK Labs AKG DVC > M10
              AKG 460 ck61/ck62/ck63 > DR-70D

I picked up a pistol case and the local outdoor store for $10.  It fits my mics, caps and vert bar.

Another set of mics Nick?  Very nice.  Do you still have the MBHOs too or did you get rid of those?

No, sold the MBHOs to help pay for the Neumanns.

I bought the AKGs specifically to be able to run hypercards in a lot of the "less than acoustically pleasing" rooms I seem to tape in. I was originally determined to buy a pair of AK50 hypers until I saw the $1500 price tag. I was able to get the 460 bodies + the ck63 caps, which truth be told sound better than the AK50s, for less than $700 total.

So now I've got the best of both worlds...the best cards you can get (Neumann!!!!!!!!!!!) and the best hypers money can buy.

;)
