Topic: good hi-fi rack?

Hey guys, so I'm slowly settling into my new place and I think that I've decided that I would like a rack just for my stereo gear and I'll stick the TV on something.

I'm looking for something with 4 glass shelves, dark wood preferred, and not too tall - I've seen a lot in person at local hi-fi places but they're all pretty tall.

Any recommendations on places to look?

watch ubid...the plateau stuff pops up there all the time...that is where I got my plateau rack....for about half of what was charged in normal retail outlets

I'm building one of these.  I like the looks of the one made of clear lucite plastic, but I'm going with solid maple butcher block.  I have not decided on how I'll finish the wood shelves yet.

I made one of the TNT shelves with pine. I finished with a light stain (5 coats). If you build one, go for the 4-rod option. It's harder to even up the shelves, supposedly, but a heck of a lot more stable. I made mine with three and could never put anything heavy on the top two shelves.

I'd love to make another some day. The cost is a bit prohibitive, though. It was about $85-100 for me to build that, and I had some stuff already available.

Anyone know where you could pick up a big sheet of the clear acrylic (plastic) for the shelves?  It would be 1/2 or 3/4" thick, so it would probably be pretty heavy if I wanted to make 5 or 6 shelves.  Here is the one from the TNT site.

it turned out decent, although i need to do some touch up paint on the hardware.  ~$100 invested and a bit of time (nothing else to do) for painting and construction.  this thing is solid as a tank.
