DVD-Audiophile Problem
« on: October 21, 2006, 11:06:30 AM »
is there a file size limitation for Wav files that you can add?

i was trying to add my raw 24/28 files from my 722 just to burn a quick DVD-A but it quickly added them and showed no playtime smaplerate or bitdepth. i converted to flac and it works fine now

It could be that your wav headers were non-canonical.  Some sound editors use extra chunks added to the wav header as a storage area for internal purposes, and this causes problems for any app expecting a canonical header. Flac, being robust,  doesn't assume canonical headers and is able to to find the audio chunk correctly.  Shntool would tell you if the headers are non-canonical.

As Moke stated, this program is meant to be used with FLACs. WAVs don't always work properly.

yeah, flacs will be fine.  some programs put out weird wav headers and they might not work right.  i haven't had a chance to try to fix it yet

these are WAV files directly from the 722 so it must be something that the 722 is putting in the header, knowing that FLAC works well its a quick and easy conversion, i was unaware that the FLAC support was better than WAV.

thanks for feedback everyone and Thanks Scott for the program!

FWIW I've never gotten a WAV to work, FLAC works everytime. not a biggie though.

program does rule the planet otherwise. :)
