ISO: "slim" S/PDIF cable
« on: August 26, 2007, 02:06:38 PM »
Looking for a S/PDIF cable that'll fit a Microtrack with the USB cable also connected. The one I've got now is really nice, but just too tight a fit to be comfortable.

Right angle connection on one end would be nice, but not totally necessary.

Any cable makers out there want to hook me up?

Fluff for Nick's Picks, he made mine with right angles for the MT. Not sure how it fits with the usb connected but I can reply again tomorrow to let you know. I should have the cable tomorrow so I can post.

I'd recommend taking a pocket knife and shaving off a little of the plastic housing on the USB connector...
just enough to let the SP/DIF cable plug in without rubbing.

Then you can use whatever audio connector you like (without having to buy a new cable).

YMMV, but it worked for me when I had one.

anyone do that?

The S/PDIF cable on my old (mod)SBM1 fit perfectly in the MT with the USB also attached, but that may have just been pure luck.

So what's the consensus, shave some of the width off the USB cable or shave around the S/PDIF input on the actual deck?

I'd go for shaving the $2 USB cable rather than altering the deck itself.

Ditto.  I've got one USB cable that fits without being trimmed, but I've shaved a few cables and they work fine and are easy to cut through.  It's just excess plastic. Use a good razor blade..

I'd gladly set you up w/a nice skinny s/pdif cable if you want.
PM me.
I've got lots of RCAs that fit well, both straight and RA.

i use a
'energi-to-go' USB power plug, it fits fine with my coax cable. these coax cable ends (gold-colored with knurled finsh, and red or blue bands etched around them) are readily available where i live, sounds like nick has a handle on it
