Well I've got another one for all you thrill-seekers (not really, heh). Ok so I have 4-6 minute clips from a concert I wanna post up on YouTube. Im running iMovie, and I want to know how to compress it for highest quality, but fit a max file size of about 95MB (YouTube max is 100MB). I figure I have to do some "Expert Settings" for compression in iMovie, but I can't even begin to know how to accomplish such an achievement. Just need to know compression settings. That's it. Thanks.

5 minutes = 300 seconds
100 MB = 819200 kilobits (kb)

819,200 kb / 300 s = ~820 kb/s

Share / QuickTime / CD-ROM might do the trick, but I don't have a project handy to test that theory.

You could buy QuickTime Pro and then export as MPEG1 - Youtube should take it.

Otherwise, look at applications like VisualHub, FFMpegX, Handbrake.

You already know how to extract the footage from a iMovie file? Right-click on the project file -> Show package contents. The .dv file is somewhere there. That way you do not have to export directly from iMovie.

Upload in h.264 if you can.  That seems to get mangled the least in the transcode.
