Haven't heard the 744T, but have heard the 722, which I assume uses the same converters and I run a MiniMe.  They are very different A/D converters.  The 722 has a very clear, open, and spacious A/D and is probably the best I have ever heard.  The MiniMe does not resolve to the degree of the 722 and is brighter on the high end, too much so IMHO.  That said, I actually prefer the preamps in the MiniMe over those in the 722 (neither are perfect), so what do I know.  You really can't go wrong with either for the A/D, but if you are using it as a pure A/D, the 722 really can't be beat.

I run a 722 for 2 channel recordings. Must say that the the built-in pre and AD is quite good. Much better than most of the stuff I record at least. So by all means, start with the 7xx.

When I want to go up in quality it takes more mics (generally around 10 on a symphone orchestra), and quite different pres and AD. My onsite rack has Millenium HV3D and Lavry Blue AD, a combination I am quite happy with.

Hey Gunanr...

Are you the same person I've been seeing on the Samplitude forum?
