Active windscreen/bar question
« on: July 05, 2004, 12:00:38 PM »
What kind of windscreen do you use with your active set up?  I just ordered a pair of MBHO 648a bodies.  Do I need special windscreen with a shallow hole in them for just the cap?  Do I just throw on the windscreen designed for a ful body mic?  My guess is that the dpa/sure screens that I have will work fine, however, for a price I could get some new foam that fits better.  I just have a problem spending money on foam.  Last year I lived in an old Styrofoam factory.  Just have foam issues now thats all.

BTW will the MBHO 648a fit into a schoeps stereo OTRF/DIN bar?

Thanks for the help,
Ed

Your DPA/Shure windscreens should work just fine.

Not sure if the KAxxx caps will fit in the Schoeps stereo bar.  I think not.  When I ran KA200/603A my mics came with two little mic clips designed to hold the active caps.  I taped the mic clips together end-to-end, much as John Kelly has done with his Audix Micros.  I carried around a couple dowel rod spacers to tape between the mic clips so I could vary my spacing, 17cm - 20cm, 30cm.  I then dropped the whole thing then into an AT 8415 shockmount.  Worked very well for me.
