the upgrades sound intriging..and the mics he works with are winners to start with (s502, m-aud Pulsars..etc).

I would like to know too......been wanting to upgrade mu S502's. No sure if it's worth it to dump $400 into a $200 set of mics.......

he also raved about the mxl603 as "the best cheap SD out there"..., fwiw.  I've never used them.

When you can buy used C460s with card caps and AT4051s and AT4053s for $300 or less, does it make sense to buy cheap mics and then pay $200 to $250 each to have them modded?
