Title: DVD Battery LED issues
Post by: gmm6797 on March 09, 2008, 06:50:37 PM
I have a DVD battery (aka wal-mart battery) that is fully charged and will run my devices no problem.

The problem I have is that when I press the test button, the LEDs no longer will light up to tell me how much battery is left.

When the battery is on the charger the light goes from red to green when the charging is complete, so I know at least one of the LEDs still works.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to get the lights to work again?

Thanks

how long does it run the gear?  If not very long....then your batt is shot.

All of my batteries' LED's have died over the years, but they all light up when charging and can still hold a full charge just like when i bought them (or pretty darn close).  It doesn't really bother me, just make sure to fully charge and keep track of how much time you have on one battery.

Is this generally a common issue for these batteries over time?  Are lots of people seeing this?

Just curious if I need to start looking for new ones or generally "not sweat it"

LED's generally last indefinitely.  Hmmm.  OK, time the battery when you use it and note how long it takes to get to half usable power.  You are near the end at that time.  So switch.  ;)

Or test it by running it until it does.  Then deduct 15 - 30 minutes.

My LED's have not worked on 3 of my DVD batteries for the past 3 years, however the batteries have still been charged and discharged hundreds of times and run in the field without problems.
