laptop ram upgrade ?'s
« on: May 05, 2004, 04:32:06 AM »
well, im finally to the point where im sure i cant find any of those elusive 256mb ram upgrade sticks that are no longer made

my model c1vp (dressed up c1vn) says it is upgradeable from 112 (you can add 64mb) but they made the 256mb upgrade stick at one time

there are 128 sticks on ebay for my model:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?D1F042738

and the original 64mb sticks for my model:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?A60125738

can i just buy the 128 and pop it in? i know the 256 just popped into the extra slot, but has anyone tryed or does anyone know if i can add the 128 to the existing 112 stick?

Thanks Ahead of Time
Dustin

I'm pretty sure you just pop it in the back side, very easy to do.

Before spending the $$ I would use the task manager to check just how much of your RAM you are using when recording, there is a good chance you might not even need it. I have found the stock 128 MB to be fine, but all my picturebook does is record (24/48 over USB), so I don't really ever run multiple programs at the same time. Of course depending on your needs maybe the extra RAM will do you good.

Take care,
Ben

if i remember correctly, there is only one slot total.  the MB has 128  (112 after the carusoe uses it's share) onboard.  buy the biggest chip u can find.

ben,

im planning on doing some miltitrack work from here on out, taking my source and also at least one more digi source at the same time with my 410, so im sure il be needing more ram for this stuff

il check into using the task manager to see how much ram i am using now with 24/96 over firewire and il be adding at least 64mb becuase they are readily available on ebay and such
