What generation of Intel I5 should I look for in refurb?
« on: March 10, 2019, 07:44:11 PM »
Thanks! I have a refurb Lenovo T440 that’s been a champ for a year. Thinking of a second one for playback only, I bought a DAC and plan on joining 21st century.👍

For playback only, literally any i5 will be more than sufficient.  It's not an intensive task at all.

For playback of local files, most certainly.  Looks fine for streaming too: https://support.tidal.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005872445-System-Requirements

I'd be shocked if that doesn't handle all of your playback/streaming needs.  Rock on!

If any playback issues with Winders10, them move on up to an audio-forward, free Linux distro and experience the paegentry of real computing.

Ubuntu is well supported and easy.
