PCM-M1 tape stuck
« on: April 03, 2014, 01:23:10 PM »
Hello:
I was browsing thru my old DAT tapes, checking if I missed one of them to transfer on hard drive; (I did this process like a year and a half ago) for a long time my PCM-M1 was lying there on a drawer, it had a tape inside, so I pulgged it to power, pushed the play button and there was sound, then the FF, then pressed stop,
pulled the Open switch to remove the DAT. It began blinking Unload, but it
never opened. Now, when I hold it up to my ear, I hear that something is
spinning inside the unit, and every so often there is a beep. When I remove
and reconnect the power supply, Unload will blink 30 times and then the
unit appears to go into Hold mode because none of the buttons work and just
the clock is on the display. But, I still hear that spinning inside the
deck and that beep every so often. The only way to stop the spinning is to
remove the power supply.

What happened, can be fixed easily? or by me?

For the record......
Got my M1 in 2000, on 2004 it was serviced by pro digital over $300! full service was made, and used until 2009 when I moved forward and jumped the SD card taping media

On 2012 transfered all my DAT´s to hard drive and DVD, I think I did that just in time
All the job was made with the M1

Thanks in advance.

Ed
