Title: DPA 4022 Mic stand recommendation
Post by: phil_er_up on December 02, 2009, 04:28:35 PM
Have searched the forums and gone to the Monfrotto web site and I can not find a Mic stand that takes the 5/8 inch thread for the DPA Mics. I looked at the Monfrotto 368b mic stand but it does not have the 5/8 inch thread needed for the DPA 4022 mics. THe 368b does have a width of 5/8 but the thread is for a 3/8.

Are there 11 feet mic stand with a 5/8 inch thread members here would recommend?

Or do you buy the 368b and get some type of adapter that goes from 3/8 to 5/8 thread?

Thanks.

99% of the light stands out there are going to require an adapter.  There are various adapters to get to the necessary 5/8-27 from 3/8, 1/4 and 5/8 stud

3/8 > 5/8-27

5/8 Stud > 3/8

1/4 > 5/8-27

Just buy the adapters.  FWIW, if you're not wedded to having the "brand name" manfrotto product, there are cheaper stands for about $50 on eBay that are pretty great build quality, air-cushioned, and still lightweight. I use such a thing with my DPAs and am pretty happy with it.

I use a bogen 3373 with an ultraclamp from campmor, a schoepsA20s, and schoeps extender/stud which has a threaded end that fits the DPA mounts.

Thanks for everyone's input. Will get a stand and then the adapter.

Appreciate it. Thanks.
