I'm not going to pay a lot for this amplifier!
« on: February 11, 2019, 05:40:54 PM »
There's a lot of information online about using Crown pro audio amps for home use.  Tons of people swear by them as the best value in amps, and if I were in the market for power amps I'd be looking long and hard at a Crown amp.  This video is a decent intro by a fan of the Crown amps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZUIeoqlzdU

I know there's a Crown amp for sale in the YS.  Does anyone have any first-hand experience with any of the Crown XLS power amps?

No but have heard the same about them and the YS post peaked my interest again as well.

Heil Sound had a few runs of custom purple Crown Amps. Great old amps, but consider if you want a professional amp with a fan to cool it. Most pro amps have them, but certainly not all. Check each particular model, some have variable speed fans that don't blow loudly unless it's rocking!
Fine for loud performances and fine for theatre installations where the amp is not in the listening room, but might not be ideal for quiet monitoring or listening.
