Curious if anybody is using the Shure A53M mounts with AKG300s. I currently have some AT mounts but it would be nice to cut down on the bulk a tad. Heard some talk about mic cables pulling down badly if you use the Shure's.

Would right angle XLRs compensate for the pulling somewhat?

I had some prob with the heavy Zaolla cables.
But if your running canare/neutrik's or other normal cables they work just fine.

Never seen one close up. There are much more low profile than the ATs right?

Yes much lower profile. I know Goose runs them with his 460's.

heres a pic on my old 480's

Yeah that's nice. In another thread, found out the 300s are 2mm smaller than the 460/480s. They will still fit correct? Definately gonna pick some up if so. You'll happy with them.
+T for the info!

The 480's were snug in them. So I'd bet they'll be perfect.

Kevin - I used the Sure mounts with my old Nak300's and also ran right angle XLR's. They will still try to pull the mics downward, but if you use the velcro strips you can secure the cables to your stand secure enough to prevent this from happening. Or you can just loop the cables over your t-bar to also reduce the downward force on the mics.
I liked these mounts. They are low profile and provide good shock isolation. One of mine however did crack and this fine white powder would "poof" ouf the the mount was flexed back and forth. I had to seal the cracked mount to prevent this mystery powder from entering my mics (real worry).
Just secure the cables to your stand and you will be golden!

Right-o. I always velcro the cables to the stand anyway so no change there. Thanks for all the help guys.

Had to time set up in the living room this afternoon. The 300's seem a little to loose. Any suggestions on what I could wrap around them to thicken them up just a tad? Maybe a couple wraps of electric tape?
