Title: Aiwa Stereo Mic
Post by: neutrino on March 18, 2005, 04:00:01 PM

One of the first mics I every used for recording was an old Aiwa one point stereo mic, this was back around 1986. Just for the sake of novelty I was looking to track one of these down. I don't recall the exact model number but it was a Aiwa one point stereo mic similar in style to the Sony ECM909 but slightly smaller and rectangular shaped. The mic was attached to a non-removable stand which could angle the mic and both the mic and stand were grey in color. I want to say the mic's model number was something like CM30A but I could be completely off. If you have any info please let me know.

The only one I am aware of is the CM-30. Small silver mic, runs off of small batts , like watch batteries...

I thinking the model number is right if both JHIRTE and I remember it as cm-30, in fact I think there was a CM-30 and CM-30A designating a color change I believe. Now if I can just track one down...

Some of my first tapes were made with that exact recorder. I have a rare WSP show that sounds surprisingly good that I made on it.

Here's mine.

Aiwa CM-30 stereo mic.  I bought it in 1981, I think,
at Tweeter in Boston for $40.00 new.

It was meant to go with their recording walkmen of the
time - I forget the model number - HSF-something, I think...

They all had Automatic Level Control, and the mic inputs were
two mono minis - hence the adapter in this picture.

Sorry, not for sale.   ;)

YEP! That's the mic, although I believe the one I had may have been an updated model which terminated in a 1/8 stereo plug.
