Will this work with the FR2 - I was thinking your review said you had trouble getting it to recognize drives?

yea, that was with a PCMCIA > ATA converter.
these are straight PCMCIA hard drives, just like the Toshiba 5gb that is currently the default hdd for these.
Same thing...just bigger.  Will it work, i dont know.  maybe a firmware limitation of reading hdd's larger than 5gb.  who knows.  but for the money, it would be worth an email over to fostex techies to find out.

I would still be leary against using it regardless of size just because the drives can't be trusted as far as recoding goes.

what can't be trusted??? I have been using the Toshiba 5gb's for a year this July? I have had ZERO problems running 24/48.
I know you like, tape for people's approval and stuff, and wave your tapes around like they're your dick...  but even you can't actually think section tapes from philips sound good.

I had problems taping with those drives on the FR2 using anything higher then 16/44.

The drive would work fine recording at 24-48 if the music wasn't loud but if it was, it would lock up while recording.

My friend John had that problem, once he switched bags it was fine??? Plus moving it away from the sound source helps as well if your in a small club.

I used my FR2 w/the toshiba drives just fine w/o ever having a lockup recording 24/48.  and that included FOB at loud shows.

I had tried different ways of position inside my bag as well as not having it in my bag. I usually tend to be close to the source. The position of the bar as well as where the crowd noise tends to come from has me much closer to the stage to stay away from them.
