A little update for those who might get into the same situation one day... I couldn't find a small and decent mic for the cam so I built my own one, as small as it can get but since the cam provides no plug-in power I had to attach a 9V battery. The battery, which is about 4 times bigger than the actual mic makes the whole thing so big that it can't be mounted anywhere on the cam. If you tape it to the top you either can't open the lcd or the tape drive. That said, I decided to continue using my audio rig and record the audio separately.
