The Panasonic FZ200 with f2.8 aperature thru the whole zoom range, mic input and 24x zoom is a better camera for concert shooting but it is bigger than a hx50v
I guess I should have stated at the beginning of the thread. But I'm interested in the HX50v BECAUSE it's small with a long zoom.I'll be using it to record concerts. I don't want to lug around a dslr!!Yes the battery life will be around an hour to hour and a half. You still have to change out batteries if you shoot a full show. 30 mins limit on recording is much better than 10-11 a couple years ago!It is what it is. Looks like the best stats on this type of camera, as of this moment. Is there anything else coming out this summer or fall that compares?Links! ;-) Thanks for all the talk though! Any talk about shooting vids is welcome!

In the HX9V, it needed to be adjusted in the menu (couldn't do it while recording), but with its big brother, the HX100V, you could do it on the fly.
Anyone know if you can adjust exposure on the fly with the "dedicated exposure compensation dial?"

You just need to hit the "custom" button next the on/off button on the HX9V to pop open the EV menu. So it literally only takes a second to adjust the exposure.

Has anyone noticed any real (not online) stores that will carry the HX50v? (I'm in Atlanta)Best Buy? Fry's? Where do I look? I see on B&H they've pushed the release from May 21st to May22nd...Am I crazy to think it will be in a regular store? Or stores will carry them..just probably weeks after the release?
