My dealer recommended using an NP1 to externally power my SD722.  Looks great on paper except the price of batteries, and more so chargers, is pretty high.

I have 5 of them. 4 are 13.2 V NiMH and 1 is the 12 V NiCAD. I bought the 12v NiCAD locally (it's all they had) and turns out my charger won't take them. One of the downsides to NP-1 batteries is you have to have the right combination of batteries and chargers. The nice thing about them is I can fully recharge my batteries in less than 30 minutes.  The bad thing is the price. The NiMH are around $120 each.

If anybody wants the 12v NiCAD drop me a line these run around $75.00 retail, and this one hasn't been used, so I'll make you a deal on it.

You'll have to tell me how well they hold up. The 13.5 volt NiMH batteries I have are only 3.4 Amp hours, but they tend to last about 90-100 minutes under load in the Deva. I wonder how well these other batteries are going to hold up under load.

What are you using for a charger?

How do you get the leads to stay on the NP-1 contacts?

If you didn't already have the recharger, you might have been better off buying a standard NP-1 charger.

Your right but I also use that same cup to connect the battery in my rig so I needed it anyway
and I already have the charger.
The cheapest dedicated charger I found was about $175

So how did those NP-1 batteries work out? I've been tempted, but not enough to dump $35+ on a battery if it isn't going to work well.

I have not used them yet. I got a wally world battery for my UA5.
I have a Sound Devices coming in the mail and a connector from digikey
so that I can use the batterys for that.
