Topic: m/s > stereo mixdown in Wave Lab 5?

Can't figure out how to do it in Wave Lab.  I was using Cool Edit Pro, but since I use Wave Lab for everything else these days, I'd rather just stick to one app.

Just ran into the same problem . . . .ended up installing and using sf7 to do this, worked well, but I'd rather use wavelab too.  I believe the answer is to be found in a waves plugin, but am on a search too.

I agree, I think m/s is the best config to use with the LSD2 since you are stuck in x/y anyhow and going m/s allows you to adjust the angle in post.  I'd use it 100% of the time, except I'm lazy and the m/s>stereo mixdown can be time consuming.  I recommend not using headphones for the m/s mixdown.  What sounds good on headphones doesn't always correspond with speakers.

I figured this out about a year ago, do a search of this specific forum and you should find it. I've got to run for a few hours so if no one has found it I'll try and get it when I come back.

Here ya go guys....

Go to options->organize master section plugins

okay now scroll down the list until you see VST, double click and scroll down the new list until you get to Tools One

Highlight Tools One and click on key sequence... I assigned into to F5

close that out, press F5 (or whatever you choose) and the M/S decoder should just pop up.

does this work without the waves pluggin?  i have sent that to Craig T and have had no problems with it the handful of times I've used it.

Yes, "Tools One" is there and I don't have Waves installed.  I looked at Tools One before but had no idea what it did.  Nothing indicates that it is a m/s>stereo mixer.

following Tim's instrustions I got this window pictured below to pop up in WaveLab 5.  I'm assuming that by engaging the button "MS Process" and then saving your file, it will accomplish the M/S decoding.  Can anyone confirm this?  I just got WaveLab 5 and have yet to record in M/S with my TL's.

I also found that Tools One - not the same thing I was thinking about before.  I'll give it a try...

Just FYI...  you can also; clone the S channel to another track, then flip the phase.  You got your M, S+, and S-.  Matrix away.

I just discovered the Waves S1 Imager - it is definitely the best m/s>stereo decoder I've used.  You can even "rotate" the mic!  Not sure what the "asymmetry" slider does though.  To use it for m/s, you have to toggle the "Input Mode" button in the lower left corner of the window.

I'd guess the "asymmetry" slider changes the relative amplitudes of the in/out of phase signal coming from the side figure-8 mic.
