24-bit FLAC encoding error
« on: June 17, 2006, 07:01:53 AM »
I'm trying to encode a set of 24/96 wav files (for the first time), however I receive an error on each file when trying to do so;

xACT 0.5.7 output:
options: -P 4096 -b 4608 -m -l 8 -q 0 -r 3,3 -V
pivot2006-06-16d1t06.wav: WARNING: found non-standard 'fmt ' sub-chunk which has length = 40
pivot2006-06-16d1t06.wav: ERROR: unsupported compression type 65534

shntool 2.0.3 / FLAC 1.1.2 output:
warning: file 'pivot2006-06-16d1t06.wav' is not handled by any of the builtin modules

I don't receive such an error when encoding the resampled/dithered 16/44 files. This one has me stumped, any thoughts most appreciated.

Brett.

did you track out the files in CD Wave?  if so, when you save them in CD Wave, you need to check the box that says "Save alternate 24-bit format".  that'll give you good 24-bit files that can be compressed with FLAC.

that's my first thought, let us know if that works for you.

That's it, I didn't check that box when saving from CD-Wave. Many thanks for the help Jason!
