Depends:

I have had success with these combos:
T+ with Schoeps mk21, mk4V and Neumann AK40/KM100
W+ Neumann AK50/KM100 , Schoeps mk4V

success meaning that the recording came out decent.

I did not like my AKG C480s straight into the T+, it was acceptable with a Sonosax>T+ (via RCAs).

I like the W+ sound, but never ran it myself.
I did run a T+, with good results on the AKG c34 / Neumann km140's.

that is the way i run mine and i love it.  W+ w/the 480s and T+ w/the LSD2.
