Title: 300d help! thanx for the help !

tryed to set the iso today,  and the camra wont let me.  went into the menu to try to " reset the settings ".  i noticed i was missing some options to do certain funtions.  do the camra need to be re formated or something.  been using the thing for a while now, and the pics r fine,  but looking for faster ios for sports photos.  can anyone help???  ed

What mode was the camera in.  Often in certain modes such as the Fully Auto Everything mode SLRs will not allow you to change certain settings.   Try moving to program or manual mode for example.

Don't know if you figured this out or not yet...you may want to try www.dgrin.com - its a photo message board that reminds me a bit of this place.  The people there are always ready to offer help so if you have more questions and dont' seem to get them answered here, you may want to try there.  however, phanophish sounds like he might be on to something.

What phano said. I'll bet 99% you're in an auto mode. Set it to P or A or T modes, and then you can set ISO. In the auto modes, it'll select an ISO b/w 100-400 for you.
