I tried but it didn't recognize it..Maybe something wrong with my reader??

I was planning to have another backup of my recordings using this..so I hope it's possible some how??

did it just not record or did it not even see the drive?

were you hooked up on external power?

It didn't see the drive...as you can see in the photo here...But the light is on for the reader but I guess it powers the reader but data is not going through. My external power was the mains (not via battery). It's strange right because it should work...

did you check to see if it is set to record to multiple mediums (inc the external)?

I have seen cases where a Firewire reader will work connected to my computer, but not to my 7xx.  I have no experience with the Lexar reader, but this reader:

works just fine with my laptop, but will not work with my 702.  In fact, when I connect the above card reader to my 702, it locks the 702 up so completely that I have to remove the battery to reset it!  Needless to say, I have stopped trying to use it.

works great on my 702, but it has been discontinued.  You can find a few of them NOS for about $275; before they were discontinued they cost about $60.

So my conclusion is that some Firewire readers work with the 7xx boxes, and some do not.  Perhaps if you contact SD they can help you.

thanks...now i got it working...It was the settings that needed to be changed...So it works okay now.
