Title: help with archive
Post by: Big Perm on March 18, 2010, 09:08:22 PM
i hope this is the correct place for this post...
lately i have been having issues uploading shows on archive. i add the flac files i want to upload, and the first one goes through, and then i get server error or it just freezes up.  I have tried on my laptop and my desktop, from home and from a hotel.  any idea what the issue might be.  I have always used my mac laptop in the past, but now i am trying it with my pc laptop....dont know if that has anything to do with it....
thanks
adam

Join the club...I've basically given up on the archive for the moment.

I have had that exact problem for several months now...no uploads for me since before the new year...

the general response is...use FTP.

Is anyone using the flash uploader sucessfully?

Just uploaded a show last night, one the night before and two the night before that.

Yes, not too many issues and even better the last couple months.

The problem described was one that plagued the archive for a few days a while back, but was fixed.

Havent made an effort for a few weeks - will try again.

Have you tried changing browsers or just locations? Which browser are you using on your PCs? FTP should still work if you want to try that but I'm interested in finding out why some folks are still running into these errors.

Ok - I just tried again...and - so far, so good. Seems to be performing as it should. 5 tracks so far...uploading at expected speeds.

Im using Seamonkey on XP.

My Firefox and IE on this machine dont work anymore. And Firefox has also stopped working on another XP machine.

My errors involved the browser locking up also. Even if I killed the process, I think I had to reboot to get the browser back up. I was suspicious -at the time- that somehow these repeated crashes of Firefox and IE were related to their current nonfunctional state. Not really enough info. Other than it followed me to other machines. Starting Firefox or IE now results in an hourglass and then nothing. The process shows, but the browser doesnt. (probably a better description of my issues a few pages back on the LMA thread.)

My comments were directed at Big Perm, but hey, if it's working, great! So you were using Seamonkey before and it wasn't working, but now it is? Hm. I'm suspicious of the machine rather than the LMA but enough folks are having sporadic problems that it's tough to rule anything out.

I'm uploading via HTTP right now, and it's surprisingly easy (fast too!).

Are you getting these errors on all of the files, or just on the flacs? There's a workaround morst has been using when he runs into this:

1) Upload only txt/ffp/md5 and share my files
2) Click link to show, assign to band and submit.
3) Wait until the show page displays (5-10 minutes should be plenty).
4) Click "Edit item", then "change the files". Try uploading the rest of the files on that screen.

No, I keep getting this error: SERVER (I/O) ERROR
I got one show to go through, then i got this again... On the one I got to work, about every 3 or 4 tracks would have that error, so I had to re-upload them again and it worked.  The next show, nothing worked... im at a loss and well bt.etree.org is the only place im posting at the moment
