Title: Edit multicamera with imovie 11?
Post by: aleal5687 on July 10, 2011, 09:13:54 AM
Looking to make the jump from PC to mac. I have done a few searches but came up with nothing.

I am looking to edit 2-4 cameras with a external audio source. Is that possible with imovie 11?

I know this feature is available in FCP but just looking to save some cash.

thanks

It is pretty much not possible with iMovie '11.
Not possible either in the new FCP X.
You could do it in FCE... unfortunately Apple decided to drop FCE the day FCP X was released.
Adobe Premiere has multicam edit capability, and there is a Mac version.

I'm about to do it in FCPX, I'll let you know how it goes.

But to your question, I'd search out an existing copy of FCP or FCE.  Personally, I'd look for a used copy of FCStudio.

Nope, neither FCP X or iMovie can do *proper* multicam, which is why I'm still using FCP 7. Don't get me started about FCP X... Premiere on Mac does it, or you can go with Avid.

no  just like the others say , imovie 11 you cannot.  In fact imovie 11 captures every other frame, so i would not use imovie 11 for any type of project that will be used for DVD distribution. imovie 11 is really made for capture to internet use like youtube.
now imovie HD6 you can use multicam if you use slick plug ins ( geethree).  and using AVCHD cards and such you would need to convert those m4 files to QT or .mov files and you can do that with shedwork application.  Thus no frames or quality loss.
