Any opinion on these cables?
« on: April 25, 2010, 06:51:41 PM »
Any opinions on this cable or the other 3.5mm male to male jack cables on this website?

It's to go between CA-9100 pre-amp and Edirol R09HR.

http://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/dynamic/eshop_products.set/ref/2863/fisual-havana-35-custom-made-3.5mm-male-to-male-cable/display.html

Thanks in advance.

They all look just fine.  I'd go with one of the less expensive cables myself, but do what makes yourself happy.

That looks like a really beefy cable that would be too stiff.

You should learn to make your own cables.  Its a good rainy day project sitting around with a soldering iron...

But I think that cable is a good one, perhaps overkill for waht you need...

You may also want to think about right angle connections, depending on how you use you equipment.

Thanks for the replies. All info noted.

Yes I was concerned about the cable being a little chunky and inflexible but it seems quite difficult finding suppliers in the UK who make decent cables. Anyway, I'm not going to bother with this one because I got in touch with the company to see if they did right-angle jacks and the don't :(

What I'm really after is a short cable with a right-angle jack at one end and a straight one at the other. I've ordered a cheap piece of **** just to get me going and will keep an eye out for something better in the future. Interesting idea about learning to make one though.

I highly recommend our resident cable makers here on taperssection...darkstar or tgakidis (assuming they'll ship overseas).

Even though you'd pay a couple bucks to send it over the pond, you'd save overall on what you'd pay a specialty shop...plus you'll get exactly what you want from either of these guys.

People that have never used international shipping tend to think sending small packages overseas is more money, a bigger pain, and higher risk than it really is.  I've never had a problem with many overseas shipments and, depending on the size of the package, may only cost a few dollars/euros/pounds more than domestic shipping.

Well here's the conclusion to my escapades. Tgakidis kindly made and posted me this cable to the UK in less than a week! Great cable and service here. With this rig I can keep the pre-amp in my side pocket and the Edirol in by back pocket with exactly the amount of cabling needed. Cheers!
