Can anyone ID this cable/connector? Video oriented?
« on: April 19, 2012, 08:59:56 PM »
Got this cable with some other stuff - nice looking, twist lock - looks video oriented - for controlling a camera or something.

Wondering if anyone might recognize this? - no branding on the connector.

Thanks!

It reminds me of an old camcorder cable we had when I was a kid. The VHS deck could be detached from the base, put in a carrying case, and the camcorder plugged into it with a connector like this.

How many male pin-outs are there?

Awesome. David said you were like The Wolf in Pulp Fiction. Shows up just in time with tons of gear, does a pro job, and disappears into the night! :-)

I'll double check  - but I think its 14.

You're thinking the same as me - I remember some video effects/camera control consoles that sat between the camera and deck that might have had a cable like this.

Its a nice cable - looks unused - its heading for ebay, just trying to get a handle on it's purpose.

It does say "HRS" in the female...so thanks for that link! (I could barely make out those letters)

If I had to guess I would say you are 100% correct looks like a link between a old VHS camera and a VHS deck.

Hi runonce,

hrs = Hirose, a japanese connector manufacturer. Looks like their RP5-19 low cost connector family for video recorders and cameras.

A data sheet can be found here (bad scan quality):

http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/49744.pdf

Hope that helps.
