this swiss-army 2-channel recorder/receiver/transmitter/(and more) was discussed in the Tentacle thread but is worthy of its own

$249
release date is currently August 2020 May 2021
stereo line-in.
PIP specs unclear

https://www.deitymic.com/bp-trx/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYbUg9fJ9KA

US model is crippled to only record OR transmit (thanks zaxcom  ::) )

Wow this looks nice, would be a great recorder to go with an NBOX. Wish it also had some sort of digital in, but for that price it looks hard to beat.

yeah its basically a poor man's SPDR, $1000 less

while the SPDR had (non-bit accurate) AES in, and slightly higher mic-power, it could barely power 4061s or CMRs (reduced spec on both), so youre really not missing out on much

but we havent heard it yet. hopefully >120 dB EIN and a half-decent gain stage

$249 is a very aggressive price point.
Looking forward to real world testing and reviews shows up.

PIP is 3.3 V so no good for DPA 406x.  It would be nice to see some specs on the audio side; it concerns me that none of the usual things are listed.

On the plus side, it has a 2800 mAh battery, and an analog limiter.

It is much more than a SPDR! As it has all that wireless capabilities as well.

Plus the SPDR can't be used as a TC box either in a pinch, the Deity can.

yes, much more, but not for 95% of people here who would be using it as a recorder only

nice,  just wish it ready sturdy ABS plastic, rather than sturdy metal.   >:D

yeah the SPDR was also rugged metal case

different market

you could say "our" market doesnt exist. any recorders we buy that are plastic are certainly a cost decision not a end-user design consideration

Anyone hear an update on this device? The link in the original post no longer works. And I couldn’t find any mention of it on their website.

"We are fully aware of the (huge) delay on the BP-TRX (caused by a variety of reasons) and personally I would have like to see that differently, obviously. Though, I can not give an exact date yet, we are REALLY (and this time, REALLY) close to launch. The moment I do have exact dates, worldwide, I will post it here.

Apologies for the inconvenience, we learned our lessons on announcing things way ahead of time."

From Deity on JW Soundgroup:

"Going live May 25th. The wait is over. 😀

It has been a long long year full of numerous delays we realize. We suffered some the silicon shortage just like everyone else who now uses complex IC chips in their products. That's not counting all the other supply chain issues we had along with the global cargo shipping shortage. With tourism airplanes no longer flying as much cargo ships have been sold out in terms of securing a slot on the boat. We also ended up going back to the drawing board and added some more features that were requested from users. We know audio pros demand the highest quality and reliability from their gear.

We think on May 25th you won't be disappointed with the BP-TRX."

nice, cant wait to see the new features. definitely gave them some feedback early on about criteria important to our application, such as

full 5-9V on PIP and 3-wire
bit-accurate spdif in
P12 or P48 on minixlr
32-bit float
bluetooth remote

that was kind of "wish list" for future iterations, im sure many (most) are not compatible with the current hardware design, but who knows, we have to squeak, as we are such a small segment. most ADC and dsp chips are based on 32 bit fundamentally and its possible....

And now with a firmware supporting concurrent recording and transmitting at the same time even in the US firmware.
This after an patent agreement with Zaxcom!

got it friday but won't get a chance to run it until the 31st
I finally found how to set it to input STEREO and will run the input on 0dB when feeding an external mic preamp... there is only 1 meter for both channels
it seems as though you can charge or feed power thru the USB-c with a USB-a > USB-c cable it evens comes with adapters
I like the size and build of the unit and imagine I might give it a lot of use  :yack:

PISS ON THIS THING!!!!!
I thought I had it set up to record STEREO according to the menu, but I ended up with 3 sets of MONO
I had no way to monitor the recording since there was only one meter
I think it records audio on one track and TC on the other, I am going to look thru it more
also it has a feature that turns off the display after up to 10 minutes on the menu... that is the longest setting
you can unlock it, but it makes it hard to watch your recording without a display

if I can't figure it out I will sell this thing CHEAP since I think I can't return it without a 15% restocking fee
I would rather pass it along than give them my $$$

darby,

See this on page 12 of the jwsoundgroup thread: I think that you could get some assistance from "Andrew from Deity" by e-mailing him directly.  It sounds like there is an upcoming firmware update too.

this unit seems to work with a different cable and this unit uses a locking connector
I may not have had my normal cable plugged into it fully
so I am giving it one more shot next weekend and will report then

my observations...

1. up to 10 minute screen limit... which you can unlock, but hard to run IMHO

2. one meter for BOTH channels... that can spell trouble

3. metal case... not made for stealth, but this unit is SOLID

4. gain is applied in 3dB increments via the menu from -9dB to +36dB
I ran at 0dB off my NBox Platinum which applies +20dB and did not brickwall the single channel I got last night

5. the battery indicator did not drop after having the unit ON for about 6 hours

if I can get this unit to work, then I would say it is a nice recorder
but the lack of display without unlocking is cumbersome

Extensive Youtube review.

The Deity BP-TRX Review you need to see! - 1,313 viewsJul 26, 2021

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGz5ipoJsjo&t=26s

This took me over 100 hours to extensively test the Deity BP-TRX and I'm very excited about sharing my findings with you.

It should be noted that since the Connect is marketed as a professional wireless system, I'm testing it as such. I'll be very detailed and picky.

My main quest in this video was to test the "professional" BP-TRX against the expectations of professionals. If you're looking for an unboxing and basic testing then you might go elsewhere. I'm assuming that you've seen all the other videos online that have shown you the specs and done basic testing and now you're ready to join the big boys.

Thanks for the update.

Once your cable was fully plugged in were you able to record in stereo?

that's just it... I had it set up properly and had no way of monitoring my recording the other night
I ran a simple Line Out from a CD player yesterday and got a STEREO recording with waveforms I would expect off a CD (brickwalled slightly)
that video you linked seems to be geared for users beyond the scope of MOST users on this page
I thought this unit is incredible with all the features including least of all, the ability to be used a STEREO handheld recorder
plus the price is still competitive with consumer handhelds that have more consumer features that are more suited for our needs
