480 > psp2 or wmod???
« on: June 29, 2004, 05:24:34 PM »
trying to decide which route i want to go for my new pre.  if i get the psp-2 i'll end up having to buy a  m1/d100 and use that for my a/d.  if i get a wmod ua-5 i can go straight into my jb3 and not have to worry about getting ar dat.  getting the ua5 would definitely be cheaper, but i really like the 480 > psp2 sound.  havent heard enough wmod ua-5 tapes to decide if i like it or not.  anybody run both of these pre's w/ the 480's?  is there that big of a diff in sound between the two?

Before you dismiss the NJB3 ADC in favor of the M1/D100, perhaps you should listen and decide for yourself if you really need/want the M1 should you go the PSP-2 route.  Just give the word and I'll fire up the NJB3/D100 comp torrent I made earlier this year.

Had to move the torrent over to bt.easytree.org since STG's upload process has changed (and I consider it a PITA).  Here's the torrent link and file.

I've heard both comparisons and I think the warm mod and 480's make a very fine marriage.
