Tannoy Mercury M3 - New Purchase!
« on: September 24, 2005, 09:40:47 AM »
So a guy locally is selling a pair for $250...I have heard some of the tannoy monitors, but not familiar with this speaker and there isnt enough data online for me to find some reviews...so anyone use them or have heard them?  Appreciate any input.  I am trying to get over there and give them a listen this weekend...

Nick

I think Scott Brown has/had a pair of Tannoy monitors.
Out of the game … for now?

Just bought them......got them for $225 since he didnt have to deal with packing/shipping or hte headaches associated.  Listnening on his system, they sound fantastic...a little bass shy as some of the reviews I read online told me they might, but I took over a couple of live tapes...truckers and mule mainly and they still pack more than enough punch....will post some pics after I get them up and running!

Have a link to some stats on them?  I'm looking to eventually put together a small monitor system for my g5, just something to have a nicer listening station

HF driver 25mm soft dome

Here is where I found some of my detail

http://www.audioreview.com/cat/speakers/main-speaker/Tannoy/PRD_120670_1594crx.aspx

Have them setup now on my system...very detailed mid range and smooth highs....bass was a little disappointing when I first got it setup, but I had it sitting on the bottoms, so I went ahead and spiked it and to my surprised, made a nice difference...bass is nice and tight...not punching you in the face, but definitely not sloppy as I first thought on my playback.  When I get into a bigger room I will get a subwoofer that will help solve that.  Really, really happy with the sound.  Very musical sounding...bottom line at $225 I didnt think I could go wrong and I am now reassured that I didnt.

I have some M2's and the successor equivalent of the M3 (Mercury is out of production?).
Sound great!
Good luck with the purchase!
