Title: Mic preamp with MAXIM IC's!?

Hi there.

Just surfing by google I've found out the following manufacturer.

There is a section which is called "Microphone preamplifiers"

I have been taking a good look to this one, MAX9810 " Electret Condenser Microphone Cartridge Preamplifier", with these features:

#  Replaces FET in Electret Condenser Microphone

And I was wondering if this could be used to add more gain to certain mics, such as panasonic capsules, etc..

There is no samples service for this device, but seems interesting. Dunno the cost... unfortunately. What do you think about?

hmmm....looks kinda cool but the bias voltage is low (1.5v) and the gain is quite high.  You'd want to be able to attenuate down the line.  Looking at the suggested uses I can't help but wonder about the audio quality.
