M-Audio Fast Track Pro help
« on: December 06, 2006, 10:37:08 AM »
Hi!

So I've been using this thing in the field with a laptop just fine, and decided to pick up a MT 2496. I've been going out of the USB to the laptop, so I've never properly tested the SPDIF input & output. I hooked the MT 2496 up to a spdif out on my Electrix Repeater, it worked flawlessly. But when I hook the MT up to the SPDIF out on the Fast Track, I get nothing, no signal going from the Fast Track to the MT. I've set all the inputs & outputs in the control panel to on, not sure what I could be missing. This is gonna suck if I can't make it work, either the MT is useless until I get another pre/adc & I'll need to go back to dragging around the laptop, or I'll have to go analog into the MT.

Any help is appreciated!

Nice. If you wouldn't mind, what was the solution?
It might be useful to someone else down the line.

thanks and +t in advance...

I had to go Start>Control Panel>Sounds & Audio>Audio Tab, Change Sound Playback device to the FastTrackPro's outputs 3/4.

Cool. Sometimes, the simplest solution can be the most elusive.

For sure. I figured the FTP's control panel software would change those settings when you activate them, but I guess not.

That 'control panel' is weaksauce, to say the least...
