Topic: sony pcm-m10 display problem

Hi -
I have an ongoing problem with my sony pcm-m10 which I'm trying to find a solution for.

The menu display does not appear - even though I can still record with it. This means that I can't change any settings inside menus
see meters, or label what I'm recording. it seems as though when I switch on it is waking up from sleep rather than restarting
and I can't seem to do a hard reset. Even when I take batteries out and try holding down the power switch for long periods of time.

This happened to me a few month ago when I was away from home about to record and then it seemed to revert to it's good old self when
I returned home. Now again I'm faced with the same problem, just as I was going to do another recording. And I'm trying to figure out
or how I managed to get it to work before, or why it reverted back to normal of its own accord...
Has anybody else experienced this problem ?
...or can suggest solutions for....
