Is Kindkables still in business?
« on: September 14, 2011, 12:48:09 AM »
I tried calling there a few weeks ago and filled out the form on the site to have someone contact me. Nothing. Need to get a new hosa cable to go from my V3 to my MT2496 and I also wanted to get an AES>coax cable so I can also run my Microtracker II. Any other vendors anyone would recommend?

If no luck with Ed, try Ted (GAKables) in the Retail Section.

I'm not sure if Darktrain is making any cables right now....  but he's in the Chicago area too I believe and makes nice cables.

I ordered a Kindkable interconnect back in June. I haven't received the cable, and Ed has been unresponsive. I'm now waiting on a top to bottom set of GAK cables from Ted, he was helpful with answering questions and very responsive. Can't wait!

all my cables were kindkables and when i recently bought a new recorder and need new patch cables, i tried to order one from Ed but never got a response so Ted is making me one. Due to the lack of response from Kindkables when i needed it, i will order all my cables from Ted.  My Kindkables are great cables and I have seen Ted's cables too which are also great.

No response from Kindkables...
Darktrain semi-retired...
Ted picking up the slack and if he was any faster and more helpful he would be have to be living in my basement!
Just giving +Ts to Ted because he is the cable universe right now IMHO!

My experience as well. Ted's the greatest and so was Darktrain when he had the time. No need to deal with anyone who seems to be unresponsive with Ted around.

For the record I have been back since June making cables but just haven't really "advertised" it that much but I have had a steady stream of requests thats why.

+1.  I purchased a 7.5 foot Darktrain 1/8" male to female cable a month or so ago.    He's still doing them, you just gotta PM. :)

Indeed.  My cable used Belden 1804a and it's super light not to mention a quality build (looks better built then some other cables I own).  I was also looking at trying to find a shorter cable solution for my preamp to deck but Robb stated it was not a good idea since the shorter cable would like create higher tension.  I appreciated his insight and honesty.  Next time I need cables, I'm going back to Robb.

With Darktrain out of semi-retirement Ted will have to give back that part of the universe! We are so lucky! I heard there are planets with no cable makers at all and everyone has to go to the store to buy crappy cables!
Didn't mean to imply "semi retired" meant you were out of the business Rob.....I hope no offense please don't turn my cables off!!!!

FYI: I spoke with Ed a few weeks back. He is taking a break from making cables for now.

If you have any issues with your previously made cables he will still repair them, but it sounds like no more new cables for now.

Not sure if that is it for him, or he just doesn't have the time now.

Either way, there are plenty of other good cable makers here.

He should really take a moment to update his website then!
