NO AFFILIATION

Interesting unit...since you can replace the sets of 6 18650 cells...never worry about unit going slack over time...carry two or more sets of charged cells to a festival.

Mobile Power Supply 18650 Battery for $29.80 has multiple voltage output but you purchase the 18650 cells so the WH depends on the ratings of the cells you purchase

Having variable voltage on the USB output scares me, however the form factor and user replaceable batteries is slick.

These types of units are hitting the market because of USPS' ban on shipping Lithium based batteries - good for us

I hope they release higher capacity units (I.e. 12 cells would be nice)

Here is a link to some smaller 4 cell unit's I posted a few weeks back

Same here, I had a small variable voltage usb battery pack I used to charge/run my ipod years ago.
Once it accidentally got moved to a higher voltage output and it fried both the battery and the charging circuit in the ipod.

I think if I were to get one of these I would set the voltage, then open it up and permanently disable the voltage selector switch for the usb port.

Other than that, it looks like a nice battery.

I think it's pretty cool to have the potential for 3.6V/5V/6V/7.5V/9V through the USB.  So with this one battery I could power a V3 (6v Through USB)  and a DR680 (12v) at the same time.
or
DR680 (9v through USB) and Sonosax (21v).

A dual voltage output feature exists on quite a few batteries, but USB is a 5v standard. The risk of damaging other equipment is simply too great to allow it to output anything but the standard 5v.

There are risks in using a chain saw but when you correctly the risks are minimized.

Bad analogy. When one looks at a chainsaw, the danger posed is blatantly obvious. It might even have a warning label directly on the unit.

When one looks at a USB port, the fact that it might output a non-standard voltage won't even cross the mind because virtually every USB port ever made adheres to the standard.

So to get this thing fully functional it appear you need to buy the "box" plus the batteries.

Really hard to tell from the linked auction how many batteries you will get.

They have one link that says "x4" and one that says "x6." Best I can tell you get 4 batteries or 6...but in the x6 auction they have a picture of a huge box and for the x4 they have a pic of 5 batteries. So I'm not sure if you get 16 with the x4 auction (4 in the picture times 4 = 16 batteries).

I'd obviously only want 6.

So if I'm right you're talking $74.67 total including shipping ($29.80(box) + 37.88(6xbatteries) + 6.99(shipping)

Seems like a good deal compared to my Tekkeon, which seems to have shit the bed on me (not really surprised). I'm guessing my Tekkeon just needs new batteries. I'd like the option to not have to solder in the new batteries.

Great find.  Essentially replaces my need for a Walmart 9V battery, for the batteries in this power pack can be easily swapped out.  Perfect.

Piece-O-shit, stay away! Cheap plastic, no directions or manual, doesn't seem to function properly, display flickers on and off, not getting proper voltages tested with a multi-meter, etc. etc.

Great idea but shitty construction, oh well.  At least they have a 14 day return policy.  Round trip from china > USA!!!
